The goldfinch represents prosperity, optimism and variety – values close to our heart and fundamental to our business. We love single malt whisky and the care put into creating this iconic spirit. Sometimes in life you meet people and in an instant know that they share your values.

Although working with a different spirit, their quest to create small batch limited edition releases of the highest quality ties with our goals precisely.

In this case we met the team from Gente de Mezcal (‘Mezcal People’) which is a small, independent, Mezcal-producing company founded in 2015 by Hardey Martínez and Juan Carlos Muñoz Flores.

The founders are passionate about small-batch production, local sustainability, and the
promotion of Mexican Mezcal culture and the work of the Maestro Mezcaleros at the
heart of it.

In 2019, at their first ever competition, Gente de Mezcal received one Double Gold and two Gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for their Tobalá, Tepeztate and Espadín productions.

Since 2018, they have been exporting their award-winning Mezcals to the UK via sailboat, all part and parcel of their business philosophy. Their HQ in Mexico City is a small but perfectly-formed tasting room, El Salón, where they host tasting experiences all year-round.
