Teaninich Distillery, Home of our Mey Selections Release 2

A 30 minute drive, north of Inverness, will lead you to the small village of Alness home to Dalmore Distillery, and the lesser known Teaninich Distillery. Meaning the “House on the Moor” Teaninich is  one of the oldest and largest in the Diageo owned group of distilleries producing 4 million litres per year and established in 1817.

Teaninich Distillery is situated on an industrial estate overlooking the River Alness. The buildings that make up its presence create an austere facade, in contrast to the gentle Highland surroundings.

Most of the distillery’s output is used as a ‘filler’ for Diageo blends, making single malt Teaninich bottlings a rare occurrence. Teaninich is a restrained Highland whisky which displays characteristic herbal leafy aromas which lead to a firm, smooth, full bodied almost leathery malt with a robust, warming finish: an ideal restorative malt whisky

We took this beautiful single malt scotch and let it evolve in a first fill Oloroso sherry Hogshead for a year before bottling it. The spirit is now a rich warm colour with the usual Teaninich flavour profile but with added vanilla and gentle spices. This limited release is available to buy on our shop.
